Unions not the bogey man

With a bailout of the U.S. auto industry being talked about, unions are being blamed for being a major part of the reason for the tough times.  While there are certainly problems with high wages, the critical decisions made by the auto companies and not the unions.

It wasn't the unions that said let's keep making gas guzzlers.  It wasn't the unions that said ignore the extras that imports put into their cars.  It wasn't the unions that said ignore what people really want to buy.

Workers will pay for the mistakes of management.  Unless there are changes made in management decisions, a bailout will only buy some extra time.

No communion for you. No tax exempt status for you.

A report today says that a South Carolina priest told his parishoners they can't take communion if they voted for Barack Obama because of reported pro-choice stands.  They need to go to confession to have this "sin" resolved.

Reports also say that the U.S. Bishops hold similar views.

Meanwhile, I wonder if the Catholic Church's tax exempt status could be in danger because of their political activities?  Tax-exempt groups can lose their status if they have a political agenda.
